Derek Feldhahn, EA, MSEA – President
Derek graduated from the University of New Mexico with Bachelor’s degrees in both Applied Mathematics and Economics.
Prior to Sunwest Actuarial Services, Derek gained extensive experience working for several organizations. He started his career as an Actuarial Analyst at a small TPA firm in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He later worked as an actuary for the Newport Group in Chicago, and most recently, the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) in Washington, DC.
During his tenure at the PBGC, Derek focused on evaluating and managing plans at risk of termination under Section 4042 of ERISA. His vast expertise and commitment to excellence ensure that Sunwest Actuarial Services delivers exceptional service to its clients.
Outside of work, Derek enjoys spending quality time with his wife and two children. He is also passionate about biking, skiing, camping, and reconnecting with nature.
Austin Consolati, EA, MSEA – Consulting Actuary
Austin graduated from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science.
He has over 10 years of experience working with qualified retirement plans, with extensive expertise in both Defined Contribution and Defined Benefit compliance. After focusing his career on Defined Benefit plans, Austin earned his Enrolled Actuary designation from the Joint Board for Enrollment of Actuaries.
Austin brings a broad range of knowledge and experience to Sunwest Actuarial Services. His attention to detail and commitment to doing what’s right have made him a valued member of the team.
Outside of work, Austin enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. In his leisure time, he can often be found boating, fishing, or golfing with family and friends.
Amy Vincent, QPA, QKA – Senior Retirement Plan Administrator
Amy graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University with a BBA in Management and has over two decades of dedicated experience in defined contribution plans.
She is a highly accomplished professional holding both the Qualified Pension Administrator (QPA) and Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA) designations. Amy’s background encompasses all facets of defined contribution plan management, including compliance, plan design, daily plan operations and participant services.
She has a meticulous approach and deep understanding of both IRS and DOL regulations and excels at ensuring plans operate efficiently and adhere to legal requirements.
Amy enjoys spending her free time with her family including her husband and 3 children, friends and with her church community. She also serves as a mentor in the American Retirement Associations (ARA) Thrive Mentorship Program.
Charlene Rabey, ERPA, QKA, QPA – Senior Actuarial Analyst
Charlene has over 30 years of experience in the private pension and retirement planning industry, providing actuarial analysis and regulatory guidance to support compliant and effective retirement plans.
She is a highly accomplished professional with expertise in actuarial valuations, compliance testing, and regulatory requirements. She holds the Enrolled Retirement Plan Agent (ERPA), Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA) and Qualified Pension Administrator (QPA) designations. Charlene brings a meticulous approach and deep understanding of IRS and Department of Labor regulations.
Outside of work, Charlene enjoys traveling with her husband, spending time with her twin daughters, and cheering on the Chicago Blackhawks.
Eric Frank – Senior Retirement Plan Administrator
Eric is a seasoned retirement plan professional with over 26 years of experience as a Third Party Pension Administrator specializing in Defined Contribution plans.
Throughout his career, Eric has served as the primary contact for plan document maintenance, trust accounting, and contribution calculations, including non-discrimination testing and annual reporting. He has also provided consulting on plan operations, plan design changes, participant loans and distributions, and audit support. His expertise includes the preparation of IRS/DOL Forms 5500 and related schedules, Form 8955-SSA, Form 1099-R, Form 945, and Form 5330.
Eric’s deep knowledge of defined contribution plan administration and his hands-on approach make him a valuable addition to the Sunwest team.
Outside of work, Eric enjoys gardening, skating, swimming, and attending concerts. He’s an avid cook and barbecue enthusiast who loves spending time with friends and family and watching sports. He recently became a grandfather and is currently restoring a 1967 Ford pickup.
Walter Wong – Internal Workflow Manager
Walter graduated from the University of New Mexico with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance.
He began his career with a TPA firm in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he spent 23 years as a Senior Pension Administrator. During that time, Walter gained extensive experience working with both Defined Contribution and Defined Benefit plans.
With his deep understanding of retirement plan administration, Walter joined Sunwest Actuarial Services to help streamline internal processes and enhance overall workflow efficiency.
Outside of work, Walter enjoys reading, tinkering with computers, and listening to 80s music. He recently started a small opae ula shrimp tank—a new hobby he finds both fascinating and relaxing.
